Rangpur child murder suspect held in Dhaka

Law enforcers arrested Mobasser Alam, 40, the lone suspect in the murder of four-year-old Rawnak in Rangpur, from Turag in the capital on Tuesday.

On January 29, Rawnak's body was recovered from a paddy field at Tekanipara village in Mithapukur upazila around two months after he had been allegedly kidnapped from in front of his house.

Mobasser, the victim's uncle, admitted that he strangulated the boy hours after kidnapping him on December 1, said police. He did so to take revenge on the victim's father over a financial row, they added.  Following the murder, Mobasser fled Rangpur and took a job in a garment factory in Turag area.
