Teachers of educational institutes of Rajshahi and guardians of students have called a strike at all the institutions today demanding removal of the chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rajshahi.

The demonstrators under the banner "Rajshahi Nagorik Samaj" announced the strike at a rally at C and B Intersection in the city yesterday.

They also announced an indefinite sit-in programme on September 2 to press home their demand.

Earlier, police prevented the demonstrators from holding a scheduled rally at Laxmipur Intersection.

Afterwards, the demonstrators brought out a protest procession and held the rally at C and B Intersection.

The demonstrators alleged Chairman Prof Abul Hayat, who took charge of the board on February 16, is involved in corruption and nepotism.

Contacted, Prof Abul Hayat said the allegations against him are false and that the demonstrators have an ulterior motive.
