Four cases were filed hours after a "robbery attempt" at Sonali Bank's Dhamrai branch in Dhaka on Friday.

Rab-4 filed the cases over an attempted robbery, possessing firearms, drug peddling and an unnatural death (UD), said Md Rizaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Dhamrai Police Station.

In three cases except the UD one, six people, including the deceased, were accused, he said.

The other five were arrested at a flat on the second floor of Hazi Riaz Uddin Plaza, which house the state-owned bank's branch on its first floor.

An alleged robber Mohammad Masuk, 45, was killed in a "gunfight" with Rapid Action Battalion as Rab claimed to have foiled a robbery attempt at the bank.

One pistol with four bullets and tools used in cutting concrete, and some Yaba tablets were recovered from the flat, Rab said.
