Rab in capital arrests man for impersonating army warrant officer

Rapid Action Battalion arrested an impersonator from the capital's Tikatuli area yesterday on charge of swindling people by offering jobs.

Aminul Islam, 40, of Kurigram, was arrested along with a fake identity card of Bangladesh Army and some army trousers, said Rabiul Islam, an assistant director of Rab-3.

Aminul used to impersonate as a warrant officer, he said.  Ashiqur Rahman, an inhabitant of Kurigram sadar upazila, was one of his targets.

According to Rab, Aminul spoke to him over the phone and promised a job in Rab-3 headquarters in Tikatuly in exchange for money.

Aminul told him to wait near the Rab headquarters. Unknowingly, Ashiqur went towards the Rab gate to ask about him and Rab found out about the imposter, Ashiqur said.

Rab, later, carried out a drive and arrested Aminul.
