Punishment for Latif sought

Several Islamist parties yesterday demanded arrest and capital punishment for former minister Abdul Latif Siddique for what they said hurting religious sentiment a year ago.

The parties including Hefajat-e Islam, Islami Sashontantra Andolon, and Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish brought out processions in the capital and different districts to press home their demands.

In Dhaka, the groups organised the programme at Baitul Mokarram National Mosque after Juma prayers.
