Power supply in Mymensingh district was disrupted after a fire broke out at a sub-station of Kewatkhali Power Grid this morning.
The fire broke out around 10am from a circuit breaker and spread to the nearby control room, reports our local correspondent quoting Md Rafiqul Islam, chief engineer of the Power Development Board in Mymensingh.
Two fire-fighting units brought the fire under control soon, the engineer said, adding that power supply to the entire Mymensingh division was halted following the incident.
However, power supply to Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrakona districts was restored around 11:30am. Mymensingh district remained without electricity till filing of this report around 3:30pm.
"We have started work to replace the burnt circuit breaker with a new one," the chief engineer said but couldn't tell the estimated time the repairing might need.
The incident happened two days after a fire broke out at the main station of Kewatkhali Power Grid, leaving the entire Mymensingh division out of electricity for several hours.
Restoration work of the power supply lines damaged during the incident of Tuesday was going on when today's fire broke out.
A four-member probe body was formed by the district administration to look into Tuesday's incident.
