PM provides financial support to families of Narayanganj mosque blast victims

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided a total of Tk 1.75 crore as financial assistance for 35 families of the victims of Narayanganj mosque explosion.

An amount of Tk 5 lakh was given as cash support for each of the 35 families, said PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.

The deputy commissioner of Narayanganj was directed to hand over cheques of the financial assistance to the families of the victims.

The explosion happened at Pashchim Talla Baitus Salat Mosque in Narayanganj around 8:45pm after Esha prayers on September 4, and has claimed 34 lives so far.

Fire officials said the explosion was caused due to an accumulation of leaked gas from an underground gas pipeline that somehow came in contact with an electric spark.
