Owners, drivers of battery-run rickshaws observe hunger strike

Several hundred owners and drivers of battery-run rickshaws yesterday observed a token hunger strike in Laldighi area of Chittagong city protesting the ban on these vehicles by police.
The strike, under the banner of Battery Chalito Rickshaw Chalak Malik League, started at 9:00am and ended at 1:00pm opposite Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) headquarters. 
They also threatened to go for tougher programmes within April 8 if police do not withdraw the ban.
