One victim's wife doesn't trust DB's charge sheet
A no confidence (naraji) petition was filed with a court yesterday against the charge sheet submitted by the detectives dropping names of five accused in Narayanganj seven-murder case.
Selina Islam, wife of slain Narayanganj City Corporation councilor Nazrul Islam, filed the petition with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate HM Shafikul Islam seeking its directive to appoint Criminal Investigation Department or any other law enforcement agency, except detectives, to re-investigate the case.
The court fixed June 8 to hear the petition.
Advocate Sakhawat Hossain, a counsel for Selina, said the five who were made accused in FIR are Hasmat Ali Hasu, Hazi Yasin Mia, general secretary of Siddhirganj upazila Awami League, Aminul Islam, Anwar and Iqbal Hossain.
Some other names were also dropped though their involvement in the killings was found during the investigation, Sakhawat added.
Earlier on April 8, detectives submitted the charge sheet against 35 naming local Awami League leader Nur Hossain as the prime accused.
Of the charge-sheeted accused, 25 were members of Rapid Action Battalion, including ex-top officials Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Arif Hossain and SM Masud Rana.
In April last year, seven people, including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker, were abducted and their bodies were later recovered from the Shitalakkhya river.
