Nine containers seized at Ctg port

Customs intelligence officials on Thursday seized nine containers of import goods at Chittagong port on charge of import through false declaration to evade revenue.

JA Enterprise, Sha Amanat Enterprise and Run Enterprise imported the containers from China earlier this month declaring to import 236 tonnes of clear figured glass which required payment of 90.86 percent tax, said Customs Intelligence officials.

On information, the officials examined the containers and found that the goods were actually clear floated glass which required payment of 129.58 percent tax, they added.

The importers tried to evade taxes worth Tk 23 lakh.
