Mega Beach Carnival starts Dec 31 at Cox's Bazar

A three-day "Mega Beach Carnival" will begin at Cox's Bazar sea beach on December 31 marking Tourism Year-2016.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will attend the inaugural ceremony of the carnival as chief guest, said a press release.

The government has declared 2016 as "Tourism Year" to uphold the natural, archaeological and architectural sites of Bangladesh to the world and has taken a master plan give a boost to the tourism industry.

Cox's Bazar, the world's longest sea beach, will be decorated colourfully marking the carnival.

The programmes will feature songs of the country's eminent singers, cultural functions of local minority ethnic groups, fireworks, exhibition of different food items, folk arts and crafts, kite festival, beach cricket tournament, surfing, photo exhibition and awareness raising events to keep the beach clean.
