Manna's release demanded

Nagorik Oikya at a discussion yesterday demanded immediate release of its convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, saying the government could not prove any allegation against him.

Nagorik Oikya organised the event at Jatiya Press Club marking its third founding anneversary. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rab said the government had Manna arrested as he told the truth about its corruption and irregularities. Referring to the prime minister, he said, "You will have to stand on trial, if you do not prove the allegations against Manna." Prof Asif Nazrul of Dhaka University and SM Akram of Nagorik Oikya were also present.
