Star Online Report

A man was stabbed to death, allegedly by his step-son, in Dhaka's Dakshinkhan area last night.

The deceased was identified as Mohor Ali (35), a mason from Chorayertek area.

The accused -- a 15-year-old boy -- was on the run after the murder.

The incident happened around 8:30 pm on Friday.

The boy was the son of Mohor's second wife. They got married a couple of years ago, and the boy lived with them in a rented house at Dakshinkhan.

He was putting pressure on Mohor for a couple of days to buy a smartphone for him but Mohor refused, victim's younger brother Mohammad Ridoy said.

They had an altercation around 8:30pm as he once again asked his step-father for the phone and was refused.

At one stage, he stabbed Mohor with a knife and fled, he said.

Mohor was rushed to a hospital in Tongi from where he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 10:45pm.

DMCH Police Outpost in-charge inspector Bachchu Mia said the body was kept in the morgue for autopsy.
