Killers to be identified soon
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday, without elaborating, expressed hope that the persons behind the recent killings of two foreigners would be identified soon and it was the most important agenda for the government.
He was talking to journalists after addressing a programme of the local Ansar and Village Defence Police (VDP) in Kaliakoir, Gazipur.
Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio was shot dead in Rangpur on October 3, five days after an Italian, Cesare Tavella, was killed in Dhaka's Gulshan.
In response to a query, he said, "I can not say how many illegal foreigners are present in the country. But, there are over 1,000 illegal foreign nationals in our prisons." He also said there were 2.14 lakh foreign nationals in Bangladesh.
