Journo Mukul's girlfriend sent to jail

A Dhaka court yesterday sent Mehjabin Binte Ferdous, girlfriend of recently sacked News Editor of Gtv Rakibul Islam Mukul, to jail after her surrender seeking bail in a dowry case.

Mukul's wife Naznin Akhter Tonni, senior reporter of the Bangla daily Janakantha, filed the case on June 25 alleging that Mukul tortured her for dowry.

Mehjabin was also accused in the case for instigating Mukul for torturing Naznin.

Mukul was earlier arrested and sent to jail on Sunday after a one-day remand. 

Naznin alleged her husband had been torturing her since August last year.

A few months ago she learned that Mukul had been having an affair with another woman for over a year, she said.
