Japanese firm gets contract for upgrading airport security

A project to improve safety and security in the country's airports was awarded to Sumitomo Corporation, Japan.

The Tk 293.28 crore project was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) in December last year.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) will donate Tk 188.83 crore and the Caab authorities will spend Tk 104.44 crore from its fund.

The deal was inked during a programme held at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab) headquarters in Dhaka yesterday.
