Jagannath University Journalists’ Association gets new executive body
A nine-member executive committee of Jagannath University Journalists’ Association (JnUJA) was elected for a one-year term with Humayun Kabir as the president and Latiful Islam as the general secretary.
Humayun Kabir of Jugantor got 19 votes, while his opponent Kabir Hossain of Daily Sun got 12 votes, reveals the election results on Thursday.
Latiful Islam of Samakal bagged 19 votes, while his opponent Nasrin Farhana Khanam of Daily Observer bagged 12 votes.
JnU Proctor Prof Noor Muhammad, chief election commissioner of the polls, announced the results of the polls at the vice-chancellor office at around 3:15pm. The polls were held at the JnUJA office from 11:00am to 1:30pm.
Rashed Hossain of Bangladesh Pratidin was elected as vice-president, while Rabiul Alam of the New Nation as treasurer, Ismail Hossain of Ajkaler Khobor as joint-secretary, Sahadat Hossain Rahat of Naya Diganta as organising secretary, and Ahsanul Mahbub Jubair of Ittefaq as office, publicity and publication secretary.
Masum Billah of Daily Vorer Pata and Harunur Rashid of Daily Share Biz were elected as executive members of the committee.
A total of 31 campus reporters cast their votes in the polls.
