Hindu community of CU protests killing of priest, children
Hindu community students of Chittagong University (CU) yesterday protested the recent killing of a priest and the country-wide killing of children, and demanded arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers to stop the recurrence.
They made the demand at a human chain in front of CU Central Shaheed Minar premises under the banner of CU Sanatan Dharma Parishad (SDP) and said that the attacks on the minority people have created panic among the Hindus across the country, and they are passing days amid fear and anxiety.
Sourav Ghosh, general secretary of SDP said if the government does not take any stern action against the attackers, they might attack again. Taposhi Ghosh, a professor of the chemistry department of CU and also the president of SDP termed the incident an attack on the country's independence and communal harmony. "It is very sad that we have to take to the streets to cry for our rights even after 46 years of the Liberation War," she said, adding, "Students are also being killed… where we would go if the killing of innocents by religious dogmatist continues." Around 50 students and teachers participated.
