Held smuggler kept carrying gold bars in rectum

An arrested gold smuggler was caught red-handed at a toilet of court prison yesterday after he brought out four gold bars from his rectum.

On Sunday morning, Arif Hossain Munshi, 36, was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka with three gold bars, said Murad Hossain, officer-in-charge of the jail at Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.

Arif was produced before the court yesterday, he added.

Before hearing of the case, Arif was kept at the court jail where he wanted to use the toilet.

Upon finding his behaviour suspicious, police searched him and recovered four gold bars from his possession, the OC told The Daily Star.

Arif confessed that he was trying to pass the bars to someone at the court.

Another case was filed against him with Kotwali Police Station in this regard.
