Greens demand better railway system

Better railway transport system that can provided people with a safe, environment friendly and comfortable means of transportation are necessary in the country, said some social and environmental organisations yesterday.

Poribesh Bachao Andolon, Nagorik Odhikar Sangrakhyan Forum, Poribesh Unnayan Society, Ainer Pathshala and Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust made the demand at a joint human chain on the Dhaka University campus.

The speakers highlighted the importance of railway and water transport systems in the country. They said people opt for road transports as the country's railway and water systems have not been properly developed due to inadequate investments.
