Gonojagoron Mancha seeks upholding Quasem's death

Local and foreign lobbyists are trying to save convicted war criminal and also Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali, said spokesperson of a faction of Gonojagoron Mancha Imran H Sarker yesterday.

He was addressing a sit-in at the capital's Shahbagh demanding that the death penalty for Mir Quasem be upheld.

The Supreme Court set March 8 for delivering its verdict on the appeal filed by Mir Quasem Ali challenging his death penalty.

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on November 2, 2014 sentenced Quasem to death for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
