Gazipur mayor gets bail

The High Court yesterday granted ad-interim bail to Gazipur City Corporation Mayor MA Mannan for three months in two arson cases, after hearing two petitions filed by him.

The court also issued two rules upon the government to explain as to why Mannan, also an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, should not be granted regular bail in the cases.

Police arrested Mannan from his Baridhara residence on February 11, in connection with petrol bomb attacks on a bus.
