Gang trafficking women busted in Dhaka, 11 held

Rapid Action Battalion yesterday arrested eleven alleged traffickers of women in the capital's Paltan.

Informed by victims of trafficking, a Rab team conducted the drive at HM Trade International and busted the gang.

The team also seized 1,136 passports of women, four computers and printers, a laptop, 214 visa forms, 1,136 training certificates, 22 mobile phones and Tk 2.4 lakh in cash.

Rab-3 officials at a press briefing at its office said three victims, who were sent to Saudi Arabia and Jordan by the gang, returned home, contacted Rab and talked about their hardship abroad.

One of the women described how she was locked and tortured for months in different apartments in the KSA although she was sent with a promise of a job at a hospital.Her husband had to pay more money to the agency to get her back to Bangladesh.
