Four 'JMB men' held in capital

Detectives arrested four alleged operatives of banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the capital's Hatirjheel on Monday night.

Jafar Ahmed, Russell Ahmed Rinku, Abdullah Al Monju alias Jahangir and Russell Uddin were held with a laptop, six mobiles and some publications that provoke extremism, Mashruqure Rahman Khaled, deputy commissioner (south) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told The Daily Star.

In a preliminary interrogation, they confessed to being involved with JMB actively and plotting subversive activities, he said.

The DB official said they used to communicate on Facebook and arrived in Dhaka from other parts of the country to recruit more operatives and collect funds.

Meanwhile, Islami Chhatra Shibir activists Jewell, Aziz, Tarikul, Alamgir, Russell, Saiful, Shahidul and Rony were arrested in Ramna on Monday over planning subversive acts, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police press release said.
