Foreign vessel fined for polluting Karnaphuli river

A mobile court yesterday fined a foreign vessel Tk 60,000 for polluting the river Karnaphuli as it was spilling oil at Chittagong Port.

Liberian-flagged MV Arca was anchored at jetty no. 9, said Chittagong Port Authority Magistrate Abul Hashem who led the court.

The court also removed 10 illegal shops, three garages and several slums from CPA land, he said.
