Staff Correspondent, Ctg

A Chittagong court yesterday granted a one-day fresh remand for five employees of Pubali Bank's CDA corporate branch in Chittagong for their alleged involvement in misappropriating Tk 50.50 lakh of the bank.

The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate ASM Shahidullah Kaiser granted the remand.

Earlier on Friday, four of them were granted a two-day remand each while one was granted a one-day remand.

Riad Mahmud, inspector of Sitakunda Police Station, also investigation officer of the case, said they could not find any clue in the earlier remands. That's why they have sought for a fresh remand.

Mentionable, a total of Tk 50.50 lakh of Publi Bank went mysteriously missing on February 11 when a team comprising five employees --Junior Officer (cash) Razibur Rahman, armed guards Tanzu Rahman, Mazharul Islam and Ashikur Rahman, and microbus driver Bijoy Kumar Das of the bank's CDA corporate branch--was heading for Chittagong city with the money in their microbus from the district's Sitakunda upazila.
