Faridpur road crash kills 6, injures 64

Six people were killed and 64 others injured as a bus and a mini-bus collided head-on while they were making a way for a human-hauler on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Jamtala area of Faridpur Sadar upazila yesterday.

Three of the deceased were Karun Datta, 45, of Kafura; Bilkis Begum, 32, of Bhanger Tujapur in the district and Habib Sheikh, 50, of Gopalganj.

The identities of the others, including a two-year-old child, could not be known immediately.

Following the mishap, vehicular movement on the highway came to a halt for around two hours. A three-member committee led by Additional Deputy Magistrate Eradul Haque was formed to investigate the incident and the Faridpur District Administration declared to extend necessary help for the deceased and injured.
