Eight human traffickers held in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion arrested eight alleged human traffickers with more than 2,000 fake visas and a number of visa processing equipment in the capital from Sunday night to early yesterday.

The detainees are Matin Mia, Jahangir Alam, Abul Hossain, Nur Islam, Rezaul Karim, Taiab Ali, Belal Hossain and Abul Hossain.

In Kamalapur, Matin and Babu were held with 51 fake visas in a hotel, said Rab Media Wing Director Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan at a press briefing at Rab Headquarters yesterday.

Based on their information, Rab arrested Abul Hossain and Nur Islam with 30 such visas in Nayapaltan, he said.

Raiding the house and office of Sohel in Paltan,  Rab seized  around 2,265 fake visas, 635 passports and huge amount of passport and visa processing equipment, said the Rab official.

During primary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they had been involved in such crimes for about seven years.
