Eight DB police impersonators held in capital

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested eight robbers impersonating DB personnel at Jatrabari in the capital on Sunday evening.

The arrestees are Shahidul Islam Majhi alias Shahid, Yusuf Kazi, Abdul Malek, Malek Chowdhury, Jahangir Alam, Yeasin, Badal and Abbas Ali.

On information, a team of police carried out a drive and arrested the eight when they were plotting a robbery at the Matual Maternity Hospital in the area, said a press release.

The law enforcers also seized a microbus, some homemade weapons, a walkie-talkie, two handcuffs and a vest inscribed with DB from their possession.  The arrestees, wielding the homemade weapons, used to intercept vehicles on different roads in the city and adjacent areas, and snatch away money, ornaments and other valuables from passengers, the release added.
