DU student rape case: court concludes recording statements of witnesses
A tribunal in Dhaka today concluded recording statements of witnesses in a case filed over rape of a Dhaka University (DU) student in the capital's Kurmitola earlier this year.
After completion of cross-examination of the investigation officer, Judge (in charge) Md Al Mamun of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 of Dhaka passed the order.
The judge also set November 12 for recording self-defence statement of the lone accused -- Majnu -- in the case. Majnu was present at the court today.
On that date, the judge will read out the charges from statements of 20 prosecution witnesses who gave their depositions before the tribunal during the trial.
On January 5, the DU student was raped while she was walking from Kurmitola bus stop to a friend's house near Shewra Rail Gate in Dhaka around 7:30pm after getting off a university bus.
