A special taskforce of Dhaka Power Distribution Company yesterday shut three factories down and seized 50 metres of cable for stealing electricity at the capital's Bangshal on Tuesday.

The taskforce also disconnected the illegal connections to the factories producing plastic, polythene bags and ballpoint pens.

The government incurred revenue loss of around Tk 69 lakh between January 2014 and March 2015 due to the factories, said the taskforce head, Munir Chowdhury. The factory owners went into hiding, says a DPDC press release.
