The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will set up eight booths to collect samples of suspected Covid-19 patients.

The booths will be set up in eight community centres with the help of Brac, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said today.

Collected samples will be tested in the designated labs of the health department, he said while taking charge of his second term as the mayor this afternoon.

Atiqul said they are also trying to set up a Covid-19 testing lab.

The mayor said they have already handed over Mohakhali kitchen market building to the Directorate General of Health Services to turn it into a Covid-19 hospital.

About the dengue menace, Atiqul said they will start a massive drive at different DNCC areas from May 16 to destroy Aedes mosquito larva and breeding grounds.

Mobile courts are also conducting drives at different houses and under construction buildings from May 10 and will take legal action if they find any breeding ground source or larvae of Aedes mosquito, he added.
