Develop IT, communication skills to prosper
Speakers at a Rotary seminar yesterday called upon the new generation to develop communication skills along with expertise in information technology to secure jobs and make progress in life.
They also asked youths to be resolute in achieving goals and to practice perseverance to attain success in life.
The inaugural session of the 3rd New Generations Seminar 2015 titled "Be a Change Maker" was organised by the Rotary Club of Dhaka Buriganga at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban in Dhaka University.
Around 300 Rotarians, Rotaractors, students and guests participated.
The seminar was on tackling graduate unemployment focusing on the need for industry and academia partnership, access to markets based on business strategies of entrepreneurship enterprise development, and future leaders aspiring to be changemakers.
Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud said, "Some people dream and work to realise it while some only dream but do not try to achieve it."
Underscoring the importance of mentors, he said with the presence of good guidance, it becomes easy to take the right decision at the right time. He also gave emphasis on science education.
Past District Governor of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Buriganga Mosharraf Hossain said knowing the English language, mastering communication skills and being smart were prerequisites for bringing prosperity in life.
Dr Rubina Husain, vice president of Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs, gave a synopsis of the seminar.
She said the seminar showcased, along with solutions, how public private partnership connected to issues that have drawn attention for the growth and development of young entrepreneurs.
Among others, Rotary Club of Dhaka Buriganga President Mohsin Ali Khan and Adviser AQ Siddiqui also addressed the programme.
