Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) yearly yesterday seized 52 deer musks worth about Tk 1.04 crore from an open field at Rambhadrapur village of Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat.

Acting on a tip-off, BGB raided the area, and handed the musks to Dinajpur Customs, said Lt Col Abdul Khobir, commander of BGB-3 Battalion, adding that sensing BGB's presence, the smugglers fled the scene.

Musk is an expensive substance with a persistent odour, obtained from the gland of the male musk deer in its back/rectal area, used as a perfume fixative, incense material, and medicine.
