CU student loses foot in shuttle train accident

A student of Chittagong University lost his right foot after he slipped under the wheels of the university shuttle train while getting down hurriedly on Friday night.

Aminul Islam, a fourth year student of Bangla, was talking to his younger sister over the phone when getting off the slowly moving train at Chittagong Railway Station, said his father Abdul Hai, a union parishad councillor in Langdun of Rangamati.

His right foot was cut off at the ankle at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. His left foot was also crushed, and he suffered injuries in the head, said doctors.

Vice Chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury visited Aminul at the hospital and assured his family that the university authorities would bear all treatment costs for him.
