Court summons 2 Ctg doctors over 'wrong treatment'

A Chittagong court yesterday summoned two doctors to appear before it on March 23 in a case filed over "wrong treatment".

It passed the order against Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy and his son Dr Binimoy Chandra Roy of a private clinic in the city's Panchlaish, said additional public prosecutor Arpan Paul.

According to the complainant Shafiul Azam, Dr Bidhan injected him to reduce pain in his left sprained left leg in 2013. The leg became paralysed after the two doctors operated on him as his pain increased, said Azam.

On January 12, 2015, the Azam filed the case with a Chittagong court.

Later, as per the court order, a board of doctors of Chittagong Medical College Hospital was formed. Following its suggestion, the statements of the complainant and the accused were taken at the capital's National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. The hospital, later, sent a report saying that the treatment was "fairly good". The court summoned the doctors after the complainant filed no confidence petition against the report.
