Court now upholds Nur's remand
A Chittagong higher court yesterday upheld a remand order given by a lower court against businessman Nur Mohammad in a case filed over the seizure of liquid cocaine at Chittagong Port in May last year.
The cocaine was found in a container, purportedly carrying sunflower oil.
Nur Mohammad is chairman of Khatunganj-based firm Khan Jahan Ali Ltd, and the container was sent to his firm from Bolivia.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed the order, court sources said.
Earlier, Metropolitan Magistrate Court placed Nur Mohammad on a three-day remand on Sunday.
On Monday, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court stayed the remand order and fixed yesterday for hearing following a revision petition filed by the defence lawyer.
