2 more infected with Covid-19 in Sylhet

Two more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Jaintiapur and Gowainghat upazilas in Sylhet, the district's Civil Surgeon Premananda Mandal said today.

The infected persons, both aged around 30, have been sent to the isolation wards of the respective upazila health complexes, the civil surgeon added.

Their samples were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College (SOMCH) for tests on Wednesday and the results came today, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting the civil surgeon.

Sylhet recorded one death with two new coronavirus cases till today, Dr Md Anisur Rahman, assistant director (disease control) of Sylhet divisional health office, told the correspondent.

Yesterday, an assistant professor at the SOMCH died of Covid-19. He is the first doctor of the country die of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, a man who fled from Dhaka after being diagnosed with Covid-19, was found at his village home in Sunamganj's Bishwambarpur upazila last night and sent to the isolation unit of the sadar hospital, according to Shams Uddin, civil surgeon of Sunamganj.

He works at Popular Pharmaceuticals in Dhaka and came to his village on April 13, he said.

Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) informed the Sunamganj civil surgeon about the missing person on Wednesday.
