Cops rescue teenage girl from forced prostitution

Police rescued a teen-age girl, forced into sex trade after criminals lured her with promise of a job, from a house in the capital's Dakkhin Khan.

Dakkhin Khan Police arrested three persons in this connection on Friday night and search for the fourth criminal was underway.

She was admitted to one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday.

The 16-year-old girl used to work in a garments factory in Badda area and was  unemployed at the time of being lured.

A woman she knew took her to the sixth floor of a seven-storey building in Badda to work as a domestic help for Khalilur Rahman Mamun and Sathi, who were masquerading as a young couple, sub-inspector Jahangir Alam of Dakkhin Khan Police station told The Daily Star.

The duo used to beat her and forcefully engaged her in sex trade.

She was forced to be with a client yesterday. Unbeknownst to him, she made a call to an official of the factory she used to work for, from his cell-phone.

The official informed the police who traced the call and raided the building. Police arrested the fake couple and a security guard of the building, said the SI. A case was filed against the three.

Dr Bilkis Begum, coordinator of one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital said a forensic test would be conducted on her today.
