CJ stresses philosophical education for democracy
Chief Justice SK Sinha yesterday underlined the need for philosophical education to ensure the flourishing of democracy, alongside the implementation of laws.
Sinha came up with the observation while addressing the 8th reunion of the Dhaka University's philosophy department alumni association at Teacher-Student Centre on the campus.
"Philosophical education is needed to maintain the ethical values, which ensures social welfare and discipline," he said.
Terming law and philosophy as complementary, Sinha said one cannot be a perfect justice without philosophical thinking.
Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, dean of arts, Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, pro-vice chancellor (administration), and freedom fighter Md Lutfar Rahman were also present at the programme.
