Case filed over seizure of foreign cigarettes at Ctg port

The authority of Chittagong Customs House yesterday filed a case in connection with the seizure of a container of foreign cigarette, worth over Tk 7 crore and imported through false declaration, at Chittagong port on Wednesday.

Assistant Revenue Officer of Chittagong Customs House Mamun Mia Sarkar filed the case with Bandar Police Station in Chittagong city, said Sub-Inspector of the station Atiqur Rahman.

Managing director and all members of the board of directors of Genetic Fashions Ltd, the owner of the C&F Agent Four Star Trading Company Kamir Hossain and its staff were accused in the case.

Genetic Fashions Ltd of Savar imported the consignment from United Arab Emirates in January giving declaration of importing 288 cartons of cotton yarn, said Customs officials.
