Candidates gather at Dhaka board with complaints
Around 100 candidates with their guardians yesterday gathered before Dhaka Education Board in Bakshibazar with complaints about problems relating to admission to colleges.
The admission seekers said they could not get enrolled as the problems still persisted.
"I applied for changing my college, but I saw my name selected for a college that I did not apply for," said Sabuj. "But the board officials could not help me out."
The government on Saturday published the third merit list of the candidates, but still more than 500 did not get their names on any of the lists. They also gathered there.
Nazrul Islam said he did not know whether his son would be included in the fourth list.
Meanwhile, a total of 32 candidates and their parents alleged that the SOS Hermann Gmeiner School and College authorities did not enroll the admission seekers although they were selected for this institution.
"We came here for admission, but the principal sir is saying they will not enroll anyone as they have no seat left," said Sanjid, who passed from Mirpur Bangla School.
"All the students nominated for this college obtained GPA-5 in the SSC exams, but we are denied admission."
The college Principal Lt Col (retd) Waliullah told reporters that all 110 seats for class XI had been filled.
The government this year initiated the online admission process for all colleges, madrasas and technical institutions centrally for the first time. It also decided that the education boards would publish a list of the students, specifying the colleges where they are to be enrolled.
But the entire system turned out to be a nightmare for more than 11 lakh admission seekers and their guardians due to inadequate preparations on the part of the government.
