CAAB staff's detention triggers chaos at airport
Chaos erupted at the capital's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday after security staff of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh abstained from work protesting detention of a colleague by armed police over bribery.
Operation at the airport was snapped for around 15 minutes due to the chaos, said airport sources.
Director of Shahjalal International Airport Group Captain MK Zakir Hassan, however, claimed that the operation was not hampered.
The incident ensued after an APBn member caught a security staff taking Tk 100 from a passenger in exchange for filling in the passengers' arrival card around 11:30am, the sources said.
The APBn later released the security staff upon bond as the director assured the former of looking into it, said an APBn official.
