Boat carrying rice capsizes in Bhola

An engine-run boat carrying 16 tonnes of rice capsized after hitting a shoal in the river Meghna near Hazirhat area in Bhola's Monpura upazila yesterday.

Ershad Ali, upazila nirbahi officer of Monpura, said the rice was being taken to Monpura for a rehabilitation programme for fishermen.

Locals rescued the boatmen and his two assistants.
