Ashraf's remark about invite to council untrue

BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed yesterday "humbly" claimed to be untrue Awami League (AL) General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam's remark that the latter was not invited to join BNP's 6th national council, held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Saturday.

"A three-member BNP delegation carried the invitation cards of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam to the party's Dhanmondi office.

"Journalists from different media were also present there at that time…So, I do not want to say Syed Ashraf lied over it," he told a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan central office.

Ashraful, at a programme in the capital on Saturday, said he did not get an invitation.
