ACC sues nine CMCH doctors for corruption in recruiting

The Anti-Corruption yesterday filed a case against nine doctors of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on charge of corruption in recruiting for different posts at the hospital.

ACC Deputy Director KM Mezbah Uddin of Dhaka filed the corruption case, said Officer-in-Charge of Panchlaish Police Station Mohi Uddin Mahmood.

The nine doctors are: Kazi Shafiqul Islam, deputy director of the hospital; Khorshed Shirin, assistant director; Momen Sarker, a doctor at the hospital's medicine department; surgeons Kamrunnesa Begum and Md Gius Uddin; Md Ali Asgar Chowdhury, a doctor at the radiotherapy department; Sheikh Md Jamal Mostofa, senior store officer; and and medical officers Debasis Dutta and Nazmul Akhter. 

All are members of "Employee Recruitment Evaluation Committee" for second and third grade employees.

According to sources, on November 28, 2011 CMCH issued a circular for recruitment to different posts of  the hospital and as per the rule, the evaluation committee was formed.

A written exam was held on December 2 of the same year.        

The ACC in its investigation found that the marks obtained by the examinees were tampered with, said sources.

The case statement says, the doctors misused their power and were involved in irregularities for financial benefits, said the OC.
