8 journos get fellowships on farm sector reporting

Society for Media and Suitable Human-Communication Techniques (SoMaSHTe) yesterday organised a seminar on the contribution of women to the agriculture sector of our country.

The programme -- organised in association with Oxfam -- was held at a city hotel where eight journalists were awarded fellowships on farm sector reporting.

The discussants at the seminar said among the 25 steps of rice farming -- from seed management to marketing -- women participate in 20 steps.

They also engage themselves in homestead gardening, goat and chicken rearing apart from their household work, the speakers added. Dhaka University Journalism Professor Golam Rahman chaired the programme where Oxfam Country Director Snehal V Soneji was present.
