6 Jamaat men held in Ctg city

Police arrested six leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in Kala Mia Bazar of Bakalia in Chittagong city on Friday night.

The arrestees -- Omar Faruk, 45, Md Ishak, 55, Jalal Ahmed, 65, Nizam Uddin, 27, Md Mohiuddin, 35, and Abdul Haque, 55 -- are accused in several cases filed over subversive activities, said police.

They were holding a secret meeting at the house of Faruk, Kala Miah Bazar unit president of the party, for conducting subversive activities in the city, said police, adding that some others attending the meeting fled sensing the drive.
