5 'JMB activists' remanded over mugging in Ctg
A Chittagong court yesterday placed five Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) suspects on a one-day remand each in a case filed over mugging.
The order came after detectives had produced Bulbul Ahmed alias Fuad, Minhazul Islam, Nurunnabi, Shajahan Kajal and Mahbubur Rahman alias Khokan before the court seeking a three-day remand each, said Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, additional deputy commissioner (prosecution).
On September 23 last year, they allegedly mugged a manager of a local distributor company, Shah Corporation, in the city's Majhirghat, court sources said.
The manager and two 'JMB men', Robiul and Rafik, were also killed in an explosion of a grenade thrown by the terrorist group during the incident.
On October 5, detectives arrested the five alleged JMB activists with handmade grenades, ammunition and bomb making materials in a building in Karnaphuli area.
The law enforcers, later, claimed that they confessed to being involved in the mugging.a
