More than 32.54 lakh students have registered to take the examinations, considered as the largest public exams in the country, to be held simultaneously. Of the total, 29,49,063 students are from primary schools and around 3,05,451 from madrasas.
Students from both the groups will sit for English exams today. The tests will be held from 11:00am to 1:30pm. Examinations of six subjects will be held in six days. The tests will end on November 28.
The exams will be conducted by the Directorate of Primary Education.
"I have taken my best preparation for the exams. Still I'm a bit nervous," said Tamjid, an examinees from a private primary school in Mirpur.
Students with special needs will get an additional 20 minutes.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman will visit an exam centre at Motijheel Government School in the capital.
The primary terminal examination was introduced in 2009. The test for the students of ebtedai madrasas began the following year. The result was published in division system in the first two years, but later it was in grading system.
The students must pass the exams for the enrolment in class VI. On the basis of the results, scholarships will be equally distributed to male and female students under the talent pool and general categories.
